Navigation Level 2 - 1 day course

Service Description

Previous basic map reading experience such as the skills learnt in the level 1 course would be advantages to join us on this level 2 course. During the course you will learn micro navigation, how to take a bearing from the map and follow it on the ground, how to take a bearing from a feature and plot it on to the map, resections, the importance of understanding magnetic variation, aiming off and attack points. Plus lots of practice reading contours, features, measuring distance and basic map reading skills. This course is run on the Long Mynd , Shropshire and participants should be prepared for the possibility of adverse weather conditions. Please bring a minimum of 1ltr drinking water and a packed lunch and check the kit list page for the equipment you need to bring. The course starts from Cardingmill Valley car park at 9am. Parking charges apply.
